Anvika founder of uitly free URL shortener for India working at her desk

The Story Behind uitly

My name is Anvika, and I am the founder of uitly.link.

The idea for uitly started with a very small, very annoying moment. I was helping a relative set up a small online clothing business. She had a beautiful product catalogue on Google Drive, and she wanted to share the link in a local WhatsApp business group. The link was massive — over 180 characters long. She typed it out by hand and sent it. Nobody clicked it. Not one person.

I shortened it for her using a popular tool. But that tool asked her to sign up, showed her confusing options, and when I checked a week later, the link had expired. I thought — why is this so hard? Why can’t there be a simple, free, forever-working URL shortener made specifically for people in India?

That question became uitly.

What uitly Stands For

The name uitly comes from ‘utility’ — because that is exactly what this tool is. Pure utility. No extras. No fluff. A utility tool that every Indian internet user can open and use in five seconds.

uitly is made for the student in Lucknow sharing exam resources. For the tutor in Pune sending assignment links. For the shop owner in Ahmedabad printing a QR code on his delivery bags. For the blogger in Chennai shortening affiliate links. For the NGO worker in Bhubaneswar sharing donation pages. For every Indian who shares links online.

Our Mission

uitly’s mission is simple: make link sharing easy, free, and accessible for every Indian — in every city, town, and village — without any barriers like sign-ups, payments, or complicated options.

What Makes uitly Trustworthy

uitly does not sell your data. uitly does not show you misleading ads. uitly does not expire your links without telling you. We believe in being straightforward because our users deserve that respect.

One mistake I see with many free tools is they promise ‘free forever’ but then quietly add limits. I have experienced this personally. With uitly, what is free today is free tomorrow. If anything ever changes, we will tell you clearly — no small print tricks.

About the Creator — Anvika

Anvika is a web developer and digital tools enthusiast from India. With a deep understanding of how Indians use the internet — often on mobile, often on limited data, often in regional languages — Anvika designed uitly to be light, fast, and genuinely useful.

uitly is not a big corporation’s product. It is a tool built by one person who got frustrated enough to fix the problem herself. That personal investment shows in every design decision — from the zero-sign-up policy to the free custom alias feature.
